What is the Saskatchewan Breeders Barrel Bonanza?
The SBRA promotes Barrel Racing of all ages and abilities through its 3D handicap system. We have promoted Barrel Horses and Barrel Racers on an individual basis however we wanted to expand our promotion to include Saskatchewan Breeders, primarily those that breed speed horses as well as those who breed performance horses in the various disciplines.
RULES AND GUIDELINES:
BREEDERS:
1. A ranch could nominate three stallions for a flat rate of $100.00. Additional stallions could be nominated for a fee of $50.00 for each stallion.
2. Stallions must be nominated by the stallion owner or leasee.
3. Registered stallions, which have multiple owners, would be eligible if one of the owners was a Saskatchewan resident and the stallion was standing in Saskatchewan at the time the dam of the offspring was bred.
4. Leased stallions would be eligible if they were leased by a Saskatchewan resident and were standing in Saskatchewan at the time the dam of the offspring was bred. Different leasees each year would be required to nominate that stallion in order to qualify the offspring born the following year.
5. Proper documentation would include photocopies of registration papers, breeding certificates, lease agreements and/or affidavits relating to the circumstance (ie. Proof of ownership or lease of stallion at the time the dam of the offspring was bred).
6. Stallions used in the 2001 breeding season up to present will have offspring which would be six(6) years of age and under at the time of the 2008 Bonanza.
7. The Barrel Bonanza will be conducted on a year to year basis.
8. Deadline for stallion nominations will be July 5, 2008
9. Nomination fee must accompany the stallion nomination form.
10. Advertising for the stallion owner will be done by the Barrel Bonanza committee. Every attempt will be made to bet the most value for our dollar. All ranches and nominated stallions will be advertised in the SBRA newsletter, website, Finals Program and display at the finals. Any additional advertising will be done as per money available. 20% of the nomination fees will go towards advertising.
11. Stallions owned by a nominating ranch, and nominated into the Bonanza, regardless of where this stallion was born will be eligible to compete in the Barrel Bonanza, as long as they meet the age, and qualification requirements.
CONTESTANTS:
1. All horses, registered or grade, six years of age and under off a nominated stallion would qualify with proper documentation.
A. A photocopy of registration papers
B. Grade horses will require a signed affidavit by both the breeder and contestant
2. Any misrepresentation of horses will result in immediate dismissal of both the horse and rider.
3. Deadline for paperwork for the horses planning on entering the Barrel Bonanza will be July 5th. This would not be a commitment but an aid in administration. Entry date and fee payment would be that of the SBRA Finals.
